The David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center opened in April 1964 as the New York State Theater. The theater was designed by the renowned architect Philip Johnson, built with funds from the State of New York, and given to the City of New York as a home for performing arts organizations. Today, the theater is home to the New York City Ballet as well as a growing number of national and international touring performing arts groups.

The Maintenance Crew is accountable for the upkeep, and functionality of all house electrical equipment and systems at the David H. Koch Theater. The incumbent is a member of the Electrics department and works under the supervision of the Master Electrician and must be willing and able to accomplish all tasks within the department as required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Turn on and maintain the house lights for all performances.

·         Maintain exterior lights of the theater.

·         Set portable power and lights.

·         Repair electrical fixtures, troubleshoot possible electrical problem, and be available to assist with electrical issue throughout the building.

·         Report major electrical problems to the Master Electrician.

·         Assist with insuring that all tenant installation.

·         Maintain and monitor appropriate material, equipment and supplies including any fire and safety equipment.

 

Minimum Requirements

·         IATSE Journeyman status with substantial experience in building wide electrical maintenance in one or more active, large scale metropolitan venues.

·         Ability to understand the work and needs of the department, and anticipate potential problems.

·         Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of persons both with the department and organization.

·         Ability to attend to numerous projects concurrently and to respond professionally to numerous priorities and needs.

·         Must be able to identify potential technical malfunctions in electrical equipment.

·         Must be able to identify critical tasks and have the ability to resolve issues immediately.

 

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to:

o    Standing for extended periods throughout the day.

o    Theater and studio settings

o    Office setting

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the minimum requirements of this position:

o    Regularly requires standing for extended periods of time.

o    Regularly requires working at height.

o    Requires lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.

 

Compensation

This union position has a minimum hourly rate of $54.37 in addition to overtime, show pay, benefits in accordance with the CBA.
