HEAD CARPENTER AT THE NEW AMSTERDAM THEATER MAIN DUTIES

·         Schedule all Carpenter labor (including subs) for load-ins, load-outs, maintenance, rehearsals and show calls

·         Oversee the installation, operation and disassembly of all technical aspects of the production in coordination with other department heads

·         Oversee all required maintenance including scheduling work calls and ordering parts or hardware needed for repairs or regular upkeep of the production

·         Coordinate rehearsals and maintenance calls with company management, stage management and other house department heads.

·         Running the Carpentry Department Head track for performances and rehearsals of the productions in the New Amsterdam Theatre

·         Coordinating and producing the schedules and payrolls of the New Amsterdam Theatre Carpentry Team

·         Maintaining, repairing and replacing the physical sets of the productions, and painting of the deck, in the New Amsterdam Theatre

·         Coordinating the Carpentry Team needs for outside rentals using the New Amsterdam Theatre

·         Attending and participating in equity, diversity & inclusion, anti-harassment, and any other anti-bias training and workshops as required.

·         Other duties as assigned by general management or the technical supervisor.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

·         Enthusiastic and excellent interpersonal skills.

·         Proactive and effective time and people management.

·         Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

·         Ability to climb flights of stairs and stand for the duration of a shift of approximately 4- 8 hours.

·         Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

·         Willingness to follow health and safety standards and protocols.

·         Must be able to effectively schedule and lead a team. Supervisors also complete tasks in their departments.

·         Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.

·         This is a union affiliated position.

·         Demonstrates previous experience running a department

·         Demonstrates experience working with diverse communities

·         Models and supports the mission and values of The Walt Disney Company and Disney Theatrical Group by demonstrating inclusive behavior and maintaining a safe and professional working environment.

·         OSHA 30 and SST-10 Certification.


JOB HOURS

Work hours are dependent upon show schedule. The ability to begin work as early as 8am for a work call may be required. Majority of work hours occur during performances, including nights/weekends. Holiday availability is preferred.

PAY & BENEFITS

IATSE Local One Benefits, as governed by Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Regular pay estimate: $5,400 to $6,500 weekly, depending on activity in the New Amsterdam Theatre. Other rates of pay may be occasionally incurred in accordance with Disney Theatrical Group-Local One Collective Bargaining Agreement.
