NYC Women's March

Jan 20, 2018 11am to 4pm

Sisters and Brothers —

This year’s New York City Women’s March is quickly approaching. It will be held on Saturday, January 20 from 11am to 4pm, and the IATSE will be organizing a group to march together. We hope you can join us.

While details about the march are still coming together, we want to begin planning now. Do you plan to attend the New York City Women’s March? Would you like to march with the IATSE group? Here's how to join us!

The official route of the march has not yet been approved by the city, so the tentative plans below are subject to change. We will reach out with any updates as we learn about them.

The stage will be set up on Central Park West, between 61st and 62nd Streets. Our group will gather nearby at 11am, on Central Park West between 65th and 66th, near the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Look for the IATSE signs:

Matthew Cain, our new IATSE Communications Coordinator, will be the point of contact at the March. You can reach him on FireChat at IATSEMatthew. FireChat is an encrypted messaging app that uses Bluetooth connections to relay messages, so it doesn’t require cellular or data service.

Bring your coworkers, your family, and your friends. Also, you should make sure to bring a bottle of water, a snack, and your most comfortable shoes — we could be in the street for several hours, so it’s best to be prepared.

And be sure to bring clever (but respectful) signs to hold! Please be advised that signs with wooden or metal poles are prohibited by the NYPD, so plan to carry your sign by hand. If you’re interested in attending or hosting a sign-making party, please get in touch.

Many local unions are planning to organize groups to attend the march, so feel free to reach out to your local union officers for information about carpools or other pre- or post-march plans.

We’ll be in touch as more information is available and more details come together. In the meantime, please RSVP to the event on Facebook for general informational updates.

Looking forward to marching with you!
